Auto-Voice Channels

Set up temporary voice channels that are automatically created and deleted. Configure naming templates, user limits, and channel properties with full control.

Configuration Setup Flow

Getting auto-voice running is straightforward. Follow these core configuration steps:

Step 1: Hub ChannelDesignate an existing voice channel as the "hub" channel. Users joining this channel trigger auto-creation.
Step 2: Naming TemplateConfigure how temporary channels will be named using dynamic variables and static text.
Step 3: User LimitSet the maximum number of users allowed in each auto-created channel (0 for unlimited).
Step 4: BitrateConfigure audio quality with bitrate settings (8kbps to 384kbps depending on server boost level).
Step 5: Enable & TestActivate auto-voice and test by having a user join the hub channel.

Naming Templates

Customize how temporary channels are named using template variables that automatically populate with user and system data:

Available Template Variables

{{user}}Replaced with the user's Discord display name or username
{{username}}Discord username (without discriminator or full tag)
{{game}}The game or application the user is currently playing
{{activity}}Current user activity status (Competing, Listening, Watching, etc.)
{{count}}Sequential counter for multiple channels created in the same session

Example Templates

{{user}}'s Channel→ John's Channel
{{game}} Room→ Valorant Room
{{user}} | {{game}}→ Alex | Minecraft
Voice #{{count}}→ Voice #1, Voice #2
Group-{{activity}}→ Group-Playing

Naming Constraints

  • • Channel names are limited to 100 characters
  • • If a template resolves to the same name, a number suffix is automatically added
  • • Special characters are removed or replaced with underscores
  • • Empty template variables default to "Channel" to avoid invalid names

Channel Owner Permissions

The user who triggers channel creation automatically becomes the channel owner with special permissions:

Rename Channel

Channel owners can rename their temporary channel at any time without dashboard access using Discord commands.

Adjust User Limits

Increase or decrease the maximum user capacity of their channel between 0 and the configured limit.

Lock/Unlock Channel

Lock the channel to prevent new users from joining, or unlock it to allow entry again.

Manage Permissions

Grant or revoke individual user access to their channel, or hide it from the channel list.

Transfer Ownership

Transfer channel ownership to another user in the channel with a single command.

Change Bitrate

Adjust the audio quality within the allowed range for the server's boost level.

Auto-Cleanup Behavior

How Auto-Cleanup Works

Temporary channels are automatically deleted when they become empty, keeping your server clean and reducing clutter:

  • • When the last user leaves a temporary channel, it's queued for deletion
  • • There's a brief delay (15-60 seconds) before deletion to allow users to rejoin
  • • If a user rejoins before deletion, the channel is preserved
  • • No manual cleanup required from moderators or admins

Manual Channel Deletion

Channel owners can manually delete their channel at any time using the /voice delete command, even if other users are present.

Persistent Channels

If you need a permanent voice channel, create it manually in Discord instead of through the auto-voice system.

Maximum Concurrent Channels

You can configure the maximum number of temporary channels that can exist simultaneously from a single hub:

  • Default:50 concurrent channels per hub
  • Adjustable Range:1 to 100 channels depending on your needs
  • When Exceeded:New channel creation is blocked until a channel is deleted

Category Placement

Control where temporary channels are organized in your server:

Same Category as Hub

By default, temporary channels are placed in the same category as the hub channel for logical organization.

Custom Category

Optionally designate a separate category for all temporary channels from this hub, keeping them organized separately.

No Category

Create temporary channels without category assignment, placing them at the top of the channel list.

Dashboard Configuration Walkthrough

  1. 1. Hub Selection:Use the searchable dropdown to select which voice channel serves as your hub.
  2. 2. Naming Template:Enter your desired naming template in the text field, using available variables.
  3. 3. User Limit:Adjust the slider to set the maximum users per channel (0-99).
  4. 4. Bitrate Selection:Choose the audio quality from the dropdown (varies with server boost level).
  5. 5. Max Concurrent:Set how many temporary channels can exist simultaneously from this hub.
  6. 6. Category Assignment:Optionally select a specific category for temporary channel placement.
  7. 7. Enable & Save:Toggle auto-voice on and click Save to apply all settings immediately.

Configuration Best Practices

Clear Naming Convention

Use templates that make channel purpose obvious. {{user}}'s Channel is better than just {{user}}

Reasonable User Limits

Set limits based on your use case. 5-10 users works for study groups; 25-50 for gaming sessions.

Appropriate Bitrate

Higher bitrate improves quality but requires more bandwidth. Test with your community first.

Dedicated Hub Channel

Use a clear hub channel name like "Click to Create Channel" so users understand its purpose.
