First Setup Guide

Configure SYNTHET for your Discord server. Choose between the interactive setup wizard or the web dashboard - both get you started in minutes.

Prerequisites

SYNTHET invited to your server

If not done yet, see the Installation Guide

Administrator or Manage Server permissions

You need these permissions to configure SYNTHET

Choose Your Setup Method

Discord Command (Recommended for first-time)

Web Dashboard (Recommended for detail)

Setup Wizard (Discord Command)

The easiest way to get started. Run a single command and follow the interactive prompts.

Run this command in any channel:

/setup

Wizard Steps

Welcome Screen

Introduction explaining what the wizard will do. Confirms you have permissions to proceed.

Select Mod Log Channel

Choose where moderation actions (warns, kicks, bans, mutes) will be logged. This channel should be private (admin-only).

Select General Log Channel

Choose where general server events (member joins, leaves, message edits) will be logged.

Select Welcome Channel

Choose where new members will receive welcome messages and instructions.

Create or Select Muted Role

SYNTHET will create a muted role or use an existing one. Members with this role cannot speak in channels.

Configure Auto-Moderation

Choose auto-moderation settings: spam detection, link filtering, word filter sensitivity.

Review & Confirm

Review all selections and confirm. SYNTHET applies the configuration immediately.

Pro Tip

You can run the /setup wizard multiple times if you want to adjust your choices. New selections override previous ones.

Dashboard Setup

Prefer a visual interface? Configure everything from the web dashboard instead.

Step 1: Access Dashboard

Visit synthet.gg/dashboard and log in with Discord

Step 2: Select Your Server

Click on your server from the list to access its configuration

Step 3: Configure Logging

Navigate to Protection → Logging and set your log channels

Step 4: Configure Moderation

Go to Protection → Moderation and set up auto-mod rules

Step 5: Configure Welcome

Go to Engagement → Welcome and set welcome messages

Step 6: Enable Additional Modules

Navigate to Utilities → Manage Modules to enable other features you want

Step 7: Save & Test

Click Save on each page and test features in a private channel

Gaming Community Server

Focus on engagement and fun

• Enable: Moderation, Logging, Welcome, Leveling, Economy, Games, Voice

• Set welcome channel for new members

• Enable auto-mod with relaxed spam settings

Business/Professional Server

Focus on security and organization

• Enable: Moderation, Logging, Security, RBAC, Tickets

• Set separate mod and general log channels

• Configure strict auto-mod and security rules

Content Creator Server

Focus on community building and analytics

• Enable: Moderation, Logging, Welcome, Leveling, Reputation, Analytics

• Set up welcome with member verification

Troubleshooting First Setup

"/setup command not appearing"

Slash commands can take up to 1 hour to register globally. Try refreshing Discord (Ctrl+R) or wait a few minutes. If still missing, reinvite the bot.

"Permission error during setup"

Make sure SYNTHET's role is above any roles it needs to manage. Go to Server Settings → Roles and drag SYNTHET's role higher in the list.

"Cannot select channel for logging"

Make sure SYNTHET has Send Messages permission in that channel. Check channel-specific permissions and enable Send Messages for SYNTHET.

"Dashboard won't load"

Clear your browser cache and try again. Make sure you're logged in with the correct Discord account that has permissions on your server.

Test commands in a private channel

Make sure moderation, welcome, and other features work correctly

Customize welcome messages

Go to Engagement → Welcome to create personalized welcome messages

Set up auto-mod rules

Fine-tune Protection → Moderation to match your community standards

Enable additional modules

Browse Utilities → Manage Modules and enable features for your server
