Starboard
Automatically highlight the best messages in your server when they receive enough reactions.
The Starboard feature automatically reposts messages to a dedicated channel when they reach a configurable reaction threshold. This celebrates community favorites and surfaces quality content across your server.
How It Works
Reaction Threshold System
- 1.Users react to messages in any channel with the configured emoji (default: ⭐)
- 2.When reaction count reaches the threshold, the message is automatically posted to the starboard channel
- 3.The starboard post updates in real-time as more reactions are added
- 4.If reactions fall below threshold, the message is removed from starboard
Configuration
Setting the Reaction Threshold
Configure how many reactions are required to trigger a starboard post.
Example: /starboard threshold 5 requires 5 reactions to starboard
Recommended threshold: 3-5 reactions for active servers, 10+ for large communities.
Setting the Starboard Channel
Designate where starboard entries will be posted.
Example: /starboard channel #starboard
Create a dedicated channel for starboard posts. This channel should have limited permissions to prevent user interference.
Custom Emoji
Use a custom emoji instead of the default star.
Example: /starboard emoji 👍 or /starboard emoji :fire:
Both Unicode and server emojis are supported. Custom emojis must be from your server.
Features
Author Attribution
Original message author is clearly credited in starboard posts, maintaining context and giving credit where it's due.
Live Reaction Count
The reaction count displayed on starboard posts updates automatically as users add or remove reactions from the original message.
Source Link
Starboard posts include a direct link to the original message, allowing easy navigation back to the source.
Auto-Delisting
Posts are automatically removed from starboard if reactions drop below the threshold or the original message is deleted.
Multi-Media Support
Images, videos, and embeds are fully preserved in starboard posts, maintaining the original message's content integrity.
Dashboard Control
All starboard settings can be configured through the web dashboard for easier management without remembering commands.
Pro Tips
- Use a lower threshold (3-4) for newer or smaller communities to encourage participation
- Make the starboard channel read-only to prevent accidental removal of posts
- Consider using themed emojis matching your server's vibe (e.g., 🔥 for gaming servers)
- Monitor starboard regularly to spot community trends and popular content
- Combine with other messaging features for comprehensive message management
Troubleshooting
Messages not appearing in starboard?
Verify the starboard channel is set correctly and the bot has permissions to post there. Ensure reactions are using the correct emoji and the threshold has been met.
Reaction count not updating?
The reaction count updates periodically. If changes seem delayed, wait a few moments. Ensure the emoji hasn't been accidentally disabled in the config.
