Behavior Dimensions
BIE tracks member behavior across 5 core dimensions. Each dimension has its own score, decay rate, and contribution to the overall health assessment.
The 5 Dimensions
Activity
Message frequency, voice time, reaction usage, and general engagement level. Measures raw participation volume.
Social
Reply patterns, mentions, thread participation, and conversation depth. Measures how well a member connects with others.
Friction
Warnings, timeouts, deleted messages, and reported content. Higher friction indicates potential moderation concerns.
Quality
Message length, starboard appearances, helpful reactions, and constructive contributions. Measures content value.
Stability
Consistency of activity over time. Steady daily engagement scores higher than burst-then-silence patterns.
Decay Rates
Each dimension score decays over time using an exponential decay function (lambda per hour). This means scores naturally decrease if a member becomes inactive, ensuring the system reflects current behavior rather than historical peaks.
The decay rate (lambda) is configurable per dimension. Higher lambda values cause faster score decay, making the dimension more sensitive to recent activity. The BIE status card shows each dimension's current lambda value.
